In respect with the new regulation named Loi sur le civisme, le respect et la propreté , it is now MANDATORY to recycle all paper, carton, plastic, glass and metal products. If you fail to comply with this regulation, your business is liable to a fine of $ 500 to $ 4000 for cases of recidivism.
For street-facing businesses, you should drop in front of your address :
- A maximum of 12 transparent recycling bags or
- A maximum of 3 green recycling bins of 240L or 360L and
- An equivalent amount of carton, stacked in bundles with string (1m x 1m x 30 cm)
For multiple businesses or office towers (i.e. mixed offices, commerces and institutions):
- A maximum of 12 transparent recycling bags
or
- A maximum of 9 green recycling bins of 240L or 360L
and
- An equivalent amount of carton, stacked in bundles with string (1m x 1m x 30 cm)
Reminder :
- The recycling bins for businesses have to be bought, but the collection service is free. Please contact the éco-quartier to make an order.
- If your business or commerce produces an excessive amount of recycling, you must use the services of a private contractor.
- Any damage or theft of equipment is the responsibility of the merchant, but please report these incidents to the Éco-quartier Peter-McGill.
- Keep in mind that it is a good idea to work in correlation with a residential building’s administrator since they have to install a recycling system for their tenants.
