In this city center context, which is well served by public transit and also equipped with a biking lane on De Maisonneuve (implemented in August 2008), certain infrastructures are still lacking.
In order to allow the residents and workers of the Quartier 21 Peter-McGill to take full advantage of the alternative and active transportations available, action has been taken to achieve the following:
- A Communauto site set up in June 2009 on De Maisonneuve.
Vehicles are thus available to the subscribers.
- A Bixi station installed in June 2009 at the corner of Saint-Marc and Ste-Catherine.
- A bicycle station is one project objective that provides workers and residents with a space to park their bicycles, offering more assurance of bike security.
It is more economical to leave the rainwater management to nature than to the municipality.
In central urban sectors, the rainwater caught by the sewer system is highly mineralized and poses large costs. Public money and the environment are two factors considered here . This reality is taken more and more into account by municipal administrators, especially when the latter involve problems of infrastructure that is aged, poorly constructed or overexploited.
