Diverse projects

The Éco-quartier Peter-McGill develops numerous projects whose objectives are to fulfill the needs of the community. Much of these projects are the results of initiatives by residents of the Peter-McGill neighbourhood.

Hawarden Alley
This is one of our finest Green Alley projects of Summer 2009. We began phase 1 of the greening of the alley west of Hawarden Avenue which is located directly beside a railway and the Ville Marie highway. First, we assembled a committee of citizens who have been present for years in the maintenance of their alley.

In addition to this amazing citizens' committee, our other partners involved is the Québec Society for Disabled Children who obtained a grant from the Shell Foundation and the City of Montréal. Both the citizens' committee and the children from the Q.S.D.C help us with the planting in August 2009.

The Hawarden Green Alley has two new community composting sites. One site is for the residents and the other is dedicated to the Québec Society for Disabled Children. The educators, the children and the kitchen staff of the Québec Society for Disabled Children bring their organic waste directly to the composting site which is a great environmental education opportunity for the young children.

Outskirts of the Ville-Marie Highway
