Rethinking is about making conscious environmental decisions everyday. It is also about incorporating the other 3Rs in everyday life.
This involves incorporating the environment into decision-making. When we are at the store thinking about purchasing a product, the environment should be one of the factors on the same level as price, quality, usefulness, etc. This does not need to only be applied to purchases; transportation and choosing where to live is also an important area Re-Thinking should occur.
We should avoid buying things with too much packaging or made with non-recyclable materials such as styrofoam (or plastic # 6). We should buy produce grown from the closest possible place, or items that have been manufactured or hand-made nearby.
There are endless possibilities to rethinking our consumption patterns. |
